  1. Great game of football yesterday with Newburgh and Scone going to to toe for 90 minutes of exciting football. Scone took the lead early with Newburgh equalizing within 60 seconds. Newburgh took the lead before half time and deservedly held on to their lead until just after the hour. Scone dough back into he game and were a far stronger side in the second half. Newburgh battled back and took the game to Scone for the last 10 minutes grabbing a late winner with 4 minutes to go. Thoroughly enjoyable game played in front of a decent crowd. Hill of Beath next Saturday at East Shore Park.2pm kick off
  2. Pre season game #3 tomorrow at East Shore Park against Scone Thistle. Always a tough opponent. Kick off at 2pm
  3. Good game at East Shore Park last night against Perthshire's Burrelton Rovers. Burrelton started well but ran out of steam later in the game allowing Newburgh to finish 5 - 1 winners. Much better performance from Newburgh with some cracking play at times. Defence were better and will improve with more game time. Saturday brings a much stiffer test against Scone Thistle.
  4. One missed One saved One scored Ref loved a penalty shout. Lumphinans looked a well organised experienced side. Newburgh never really created much going forward. Onwards to Tuesday with visit of Perthshire side Burrelton Rovers.
  5. Pre-season kicks off this afternoon with a visit from Lumphinans UTD to East Shore Park.
  6. Point me in the direction of the post mate and I will get it removed. Was it on Twitter, Facebook or our website? We are well aware of the fact the clubs currently below us have games in hand.
  7. Thank goodness thats the away monkey off our back at last... A hard fought win at Stoneyburn with both teams ending the game with 10 players. There wasn't a bad tackle in the game. Stoneyburn took the lead from a corner with a well taken header at the back post. A soft penalty award allowed Newburgh to equalise from the penaly spot before half time. Newburgh took the lead shortly after half time with Sutherland doubling his tally for the day. Stoneyburn reduced to 10 men shortly after Newburgh scored. The home side upped their game and got a deserved equaliser with 10 to play. Newburgh then picked themselves up and a cracking strike with 2 minutes to go from Hutchison gave them the win. A real hard fought game that was well worth the cost of entry for the supporters. The 3 points lift Newburgh to 4th in league. West Calder visit East Shore Park next week.
  8. Long trip to Stoneyburn today for Newburgh. Hopefully get back on track and pick up some much needed away league points
  9. A decent game at Newburgh on Saturday ib which either team could have taken the points. Bathgate scored their second goal at a great time for them right on half time. They managed the game well in the second half to see out the game for the win adding a third late on. Newburgh should be encouraged by their performance as on another day they may well have had a bit more good fortune in front of goal to change the game. Tight, tight league this where any team is capable of winning as there are no low hanging fruit on the points tree... Look forward to a visit to Star on Saturday to see the match against KSH.
  10. Really poor performance from Newburgh yesterday. Lochore could have won by more and we wouldnt have had any argument. Just one of those days I suppose. Good showing from lochore every one of their team played well. A few well known faces in the crowd....
  11. Another trip into Fife this weekend as Newburgh play Lochore Welfare at Central Park. Lochore, managerless after Andy Healey's departure, are always a tough team to crack so should be a good game. I have to say the new league set up, even with the extra miles, is very competitive. Pumpherston will run away with the league I would guess. Second place is up for grabs to every other team in the league. There are no whipping boys so very difficult to predict the outcome of nearly every game each week. It will be interesting to see what will happen come the pointy end of the season. I think I am right in saying that 2nd place play off against 2nd in North Premier to go into the Superleague next season. Assuming all of well informed theorists on P&B are incorrect and this isnt the last ever season for Junior football in the East...... We will wait and see
  12. A real old fashioned cup tie at Lochgelly yesterday end to end at times. Lochgelly with a host of youngsters in their line up. Newburgh as has been the case in a few away games recently played nice football and this week managed to get something for their endeavour. Delighted to see us through and on the balance of play think it was the right result. Lochgelly have done a lot of work on their pitch in the close season and it held up well under really trying conditions.
  13. Great game at East Shore Park today. Newburgh were 1-0 up in opening minute and added a second around 20 minutes in with an absolute worldie from 20 yards Harthill pushed hard for a goal up to halftime but couldn't break down Newburgh's back line. Second half much the same Newburgh were comfortable even when Harthill pulled a goal back with 15 minutes to go Newburgh didn't look like losing the 3 points. Excellent performance to maintain the home 100% record. Just need to win on the road now! Away to Lochgelly next week in F&L cup
  14. Big test for Newburgh this week as Harthill visit in the league. Harthill won the EOS cup tie last month by the odd goal in three so Newburgh will be looking for revenge. Some good experienced players in the Harthill line up saw them through the tie, Graham Weir etc. Newburgh have an excellent record at the New-Camp so far this season. Should be a good game
  15. From a Newburgh point of view thought today's game showed a lack of recent games Never really got going until 2nd half Don't think the centre half was unlucky to concede the missed penalty as he clipped our forward in the box - foul so has to be a penalty. Missed a couple of our important players today who would have made a difference. Lochore have some good players but seemed to lack shape for parts of the game The big (hefty) lad up front looks decent but lacks pace and ran out of steam later in the game All the best to Lochore next week though and for the rest of the season
