1. I fully understand how it looks. A lot of people were thinking we tried to get out of getting hammered, why would we do this when we’ve won one game since the start of preseason? We aren’t bad losers, we’re a new team and understand results won’t go our way for a while. We can take a hiding and fully agree that we got beat 6-1 and St Monans should be awarded 3 points.
2. It was discussed at half time due to the absolute ridiculous referee we had not protecting players on the park. I don’t think anyone on this planet that wasn’t there would understand what both teams had to endure yesterday.
3. When the call was made, nobody realised how much time was left - probably inexperience and a rash decision in the sense of the time that the decision was made. We still stand by our actions however should have been done earlier in the game.
3. St Monans fully deserve the 3 points and we will take whatever sanctions come our way provided there is action taken against said referee as both teams and the sidelines witnessed how bad this referee was, regardless of what they think of the clubs decision to forfeit the match.
4. On that note, we tried to forfeit rather than abandon the game due to the ludicrous decision he made at that time. We didn’t ask for it to be abandoned. He wouldn’t listen to us. Told us to shut up and said match abandoned.
5. I for one along with the rest of the club from what I’ve heard, are completely against getting on referees backs, we know they have a tough job. I’ve been involved with Ammies football all my days and have NEVER in my life come across such an incompetent and aggressive referee in my life. These views are my own and not the clubs 👍🏻
