  2. He was crossing it not shooting Thats harsh Thought it was a peach of a strike
  3. I hear that better weather is predicted for May I dont know whats worse, the thought of playing Summer football on brick hard pitches or the disapointment of waking up on a Saturday to your phone ringing to tell you the match is off.
  4. And i'm sure you will agree we don't want to go down the foreign route again Berti. I know you follow Scotland all over the world, at great expense, and i'm sure you'll agree we want a manager who will make those trips worthwile. I think the SFA don't want to fall into the Vogts trap again, thinking foreign is better, but on the flip-side they shouldn't discount any British managers, we have many capable managers in the British isles, we need to target the right one for Scotland, and by the looks of it, it's not going to be easy! I would not be against going down the foreign route, however I would much prefer a Scottish manager. I dont think Berti did that bad a job if you discount friendlies. He gave many players caps 3-4 years before they would have got them under the old regime and took us to the playoffs with fantastic results at home to Germany and Holland. On the thoughts of the new manager I hear that Souness would not consider living in Scotland which is a stumbling block. I think many peoples views are tainted by the club they support especially if they follow either side of the Old Firm and this is probably the reason Souness has been touted by many despite a dismal record outwith his time at Rangers and a brief time in Turkey. Burns has not had a great deal of sucsess as a manager, however he has spent enough time with the international set up to know what it is all about. Burnley and McGhee both have positive attributes too so we will have to wait and see I suppose!!
  5. I cannot believe people are even considering Souness. He is a cheque book manager and loves himself far to much. Do you honestly think players would put in extra effort for him? His biggest success came at Rangers when he spent millions bringing in English players who were unable to play in Europe due to the English ban and were happy to play in Scotland for that reason. I am not too enamered with any of the candidates, but I would probably edge towards Burns as at least he likes to play attacking football.
  6. I agree with you on the fact that teams very rarely see the same game. On the penalty, I would have been shouting for it had it been at the other end without a doubt, my only disagreement was that you felt it was "stonewall", but thats football. With regards to the tackle on Iain, yes it was a hard tackle, but as mentioned in a previous post the player who put in the tackle is the least likely to deliberatly set out to injure someone and was most likely just caught out with his timing rather than any intent to cause injury especially with Iain being a fantastic servant to Thistle and a players favourite during his time with us.
  7. Iain, in all due respect do you think Matt would be picked as the hatchet man if Thistle were to stoop so low as to use dirty tactics to force a player off through injury? I am surprised that you state that you were informed that you would be getting taken out as part of Thistles tactics. It is not and never will be the way that the club works and besides I am sure you will agree that with your form up until the tackle we would have in fact benefited from you staying on the park in what was not the best of conditions for you to flourish.
  8. "fife thistle 0-3 auchtermuchty bellvue 1nill haf time stonewall pen, early goal in the second haf killed it then howler from the goalie with 10 to go pretty comfy win in the end for us the day all the best for the the season fife thistle" Stonewall penalty!!! The contact was minimal, but Paul made the most of it. That said, Muchty deserved the win in what was a poor game on a poor pitch in poor weather between two teams who were poor on the day!!
  9. Hey Rhino, are you nogt fed up with this topic yet!!!
  10. Dundonald Bluebell U21s 5 v 2 Fife Thistle. Thistle 2-1 up with half an hour to go, but Dundonald deserved winners.
  11. Thought I would translate this into English for everyone If your side had thirteen set pieces and failed to covert any of them, then is that not down to good defending on our behalf. Also if your goalkeeper had only three touches of the ball and one of these was to pick the ball out of the net, then that says it all about him. His positioning for the last goal was disgraceful. I play Fifa on the PS2 all the time and I can do much better. Soon my pubic hair will grow in and then I will be able to play with the big boys on the real pitch. Translated on Google using www.GadgtoEnglish.com
  12. Thought the sub keeper looked pretty handy
  13. We were worried you might try and entice players along to Inverkeithing with offers of drink and wild women
  14. i know for fact mate about wages also why is there not enough locals good enough??? Why did they stop under 19 and 21 teams, surely if we still had age groups like that they could get a good team out of it john. At the end of the day you can choose 15 or 16 players from local area and get them playing as a team, some professional coaching and you will find they would do a decent enough job. Years ago the Colts produced some really good players , why has this stopped and why after youth football do they go elsewhere , cos apart from amatuer football there isnt anything else for them to progress here in st .andrews, Look at the madras team this year, really good players yet where are they going to go? other teams will benefit from them . i still think we should get an under 21 team for them to progress and make the step up so our junior team could benefit from it. My god Gorgs, you are actually talking sense for a change I have to agree that United have turned their back on rearing their own talent in favour of waving the cheque book. This has been the case at much higher levels of football too and only now are clubs realising that the best way forward is to bring through your own players who in turn will also feel like they owe the club something which means they dig in deeper when required. There are a lot of good guys at United both on the playing front and behind the scenes and I am sure that the committee will learn from their mistakes and look to take a step back to move the club forward and this should start by reintroducing underage sides and forging close links with Madras.
  15. I dont imagine the job will go to Jimmy Hardie full time. I think that if the money had been restricted as it had been in previous years then Colin would have done a better job. It seemed that a lot of players did not give a monkeys about the club and that is always a bad thing no matter the level. In any walks of life, if you have a wad of cash to spend, you dont always spend it wisely!
  16. I think Mr Shearer is his own worst enemy and brought this on himself. His conduct as a referee could be downright disgusting at times and wonderful at other times, but I hope that he learns from this and can grow up a little and turn into a decent referee.
  17. Colleges keeper was outstanding and did not deserve to pick the ball out the net 12 times.
  18. And who says you learn nothing from this forum Well done on your excellent knowledge of local footballing history guys.
  19. Unfortunatly this is correct as the SAFA do not allow the use of the 3-0 system so all matches played will be null and void. I think maybe the league should not allow any more sides in for a few years to allow some stability as how many of the new sides over the last few years have folded within a year or two. This year we have had Anstruther and now Camdean spoiling it for the others in Division 1
  20. "Our players are considering contacting the police and the environmental health also regarding how dirty your team are also young sub that came on had to go to the hospital regarding all the stud marks down his legs" I think if you ask your substitute you will find that he had no issues with the tackle that left the marks. It was a 50/50 ball with myself and we both went in fully commited. Lets put this to bed. What goes around comes around and I am sure that the YM will enjoy many a season in the 2nd division to prove themselves fit for the FAFL.
  21. Played my first game against Kirkcaldy YM and firstly my appologies to the 3 or 4 decent guys involved with them, but what a bunch of ######. There were punches getting thrown on several occasions and at least twice there were attempted headbutts. I am no angel as people who have played against me will testify, but some of the players in the YM camp need to realise that they cannot compensate for their lack of manhood off the park by acting like Clubber Lang on it. The two players who were sent off were deservedly sent packing. NE Saints are no angels and did not deserve to win, but YM need to clean up their act before they find themselves playing pub football on a Sunday morning.
  22. A temporary 10,000 seat stand has been installed especially!! Will that cover it?
  23. Probably Redcurrant as I am not so keen on Blackcurrant
  24. u may find that this match has been called off due to the stabbing last saturday at Birkhill womans previous match. The DWBS are desperate to eradicate the violence that has crept in the womans league and have cancelled all matches till all the women promise to hand in all knifes and stop carrying them down there stockings. the stab victim 67yr old Elsie McTavish is making a good recovery and is hoping the ban will be lifted in time for her return to the green. I stand corrected. I have just checked with the DWBS and they have confirmed that all of this weekends action is to be played behind closed doors due to the recent trouble. They did however state that they hope all fixtures will return to normal by the end of next week and that the "press talk" describing a one year ban of the sport was "mere poppy cock"
  25. On the contrary. I had a great time last week. Good guys and a good laugh, however if the game is off on Saturday I may be tempted along to Birkhill
