Burley To Stay?

looks like burley is going to stay as scotland manager :rollsmile: looks like we reward failure :rolleyes: to me the scotland fans need to start boycotting games and force smith and co out the door,i know its hard to do if you are a diehard but sometimes enough is enough, when burley took over we were in the top16 in the rankings ,we are now down to 48 close to going out the top 50,failure to finish 2nd in our recent World Cup group was shocking.

Keeping this man in charge sends out a clear message that we accept Mediocrity. I am not surprised with this decision as the SFA kept Berti Allsorts in charge when he failed but it is not the right decision.

Burley has made several high profile bungles and this recent campaign was unacceptable. I geniunely fear that under his stewardship Scotland will simply stumble from one humilation to another.

I suspect that Peat, Smith etc... realise they have a 'yes' man dealing with the squad and therefore don't need to deal with any hassle from the Scotland manager.

The last game and a half he's got the performances that have been missing. He's admitted he's made mistakes and hopefully he's learned from them.

IF he's given another chance then it should be on the basis that McGregor and Boyd come back into the set up

mgm,we have a good squad of players but his team selections were baffling at times, chris commons in before mcfadden, iwelumo in before boyd, alexander in before hartley ,its beyond belief ,because he got it right in the last 2 games isnt enough imo to keep him on,its over 8 games and scotland only scored 6 goals and conceded 11,NOWHERE NEAR GOOD ENOUGH.

Those who say "we are moving in the right direction" after the last two games agaionst Holland and Macedonia, take note; we were moving in the right diretion WHEN HE TOOK OVER. His inepitude as a manager means we were moving backwards as soon as he took over. A 25% success rate is undeniable proof of this.

Two of his wins were scrappy edge-of-the-set gigs against the mighty Iceland.

VERDICT: Burley out NOW!!

Played 12

Won 3

Drawn 3

Lost 6

A success rate of 25% is appalling.

BOYD??? why the hell would you want that arse**le back? Whoever the manager is, if it was up to me that clown would never play for Scotland again.

WHY? DAVIE WEIR LEFT SCOTLAND WHEN BERTIE VOGTS WAS MANAGER AND WAS WELCOMED BACK

Some will point the finger at the Sfa, fixtures, bad luck, Boyd, boozegate, Iwellumo, Caldwell, weather, injuries, suspensions, ANYTHING other than the FACT that we finished 3rd in the easiest group we've ever had and that he could only win 3 of 12 games under his tenure.

Beating Macedonia and Iceland at home and only Iceland away is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!

The man does NOT inspire, he is INCAPABLE of organising, his record is RUBBISH and he has FAILED!

HE MUST GO NOW!

As much as it pains me to say, he is a goalscoring machine. Give him a chance 6 yards out he'll burst the net. Iwelumo and Miller on the other hand :whistling:

Confirmed he'll be staying as Scotland manager

fackin shocking, hes a clown,3 wins out of 12 games,it beggars belief.A professional footballing organisation would measure his failure to achieve qualification over a full campaign and preceding set of warm up friendlies....and sack him.....simple as that! Nothing personal, just because under his regime, we didn't get to the playoffs which was the agreed target.

But we don't sack him because:

a)erm, we're not sure

b)maybe he's not as rubbish as we all thought two weeks ago

c)we're too scared to commit serious cash in order to get a top boss in

d)our two comedians at the top of the sfa would be tarred with failure if GB went, and we can't have that, can we....

A new manager, let's be brutally honest, couldn't be much worse. Berti's record is better than GB's.

:whistling::whistling::whistling: laughing stock

Its a clearout at the top of Scottish fitba thats needed, SFA,SPL,SFL,SJFL,SAFL and the rest.Too many pompous fatcats getting their freebies and wasting all the money that should be spent on youth development and facilities.

One association covering all fitba in a pyramid system and a 16 team top league and 2nd division then workin all the way down like Engerlund have.

Watched a bit of the SPL game last nite and the commentator summed up Scotlands top league with the comment "theres plenty of passion and commitment going into some of these challenges, just what you would expect from an SPL game" .Nothing to do with the 100 mile an hour pace and misplaced 10 yard passes and poor control and lack of technical ability.

Lets face it the fair served up by the top flight is dire so is it any wonder we are so poor internationally.

Mibbie no the manager fans want or the decision that some fans wanted but if he can continue to make the right team selections as he did in the last 2 games he deserves the support. As for boycotting Scotland games to force folk(manager or committee)out get to feck.No matter how bad it gets/been boycotting games is a no no as it shows we would all be like Boyd only happy to be part of scotland national team but only if it is on our terms.

Agree thought that scottish football needs to change from the top downwards but how can that be achieved ? As long as there are the current committees on the respective boards(ie spl sfl, sfa)then nothing will change and there doesnt seem to be anyway of getting them out or should wee boycott all games until they leave.

Why????? If they players want to come back it should be up to them to go with a grovelling apology to the SFA and the manager and take it from there. Scotland certainly shouldn't be begging them to come back. McGregor is nowhere near as good as Gordon anyway.

weir was different in the sense that Vogts publically criticised him. Boyd threw his toys out the pram because he, rightly or wrongly, didnt get picked! Boyd should have been man enough to swallow his pride and remember he'splaying for the scottish people, not just Goerge Burrley.

As for keeping George Burely on as manager??? :whistling::whistling:

I think your right when they say they must have not had anyone else interested in the job. They probably asked Chesney on the sly and he doesnt fancy it!

I'd rather have McShagger on the bench than Jamie Langfield. And as for Boyd mate it's a no brainer. The boy scores goals. Scotland scored only 6 goals in the qualifiers.

It should be a clean slate for every player except Barry Ferguson. He's just a wee beauty :whistling:
